Iain is twenty-one years old and the youngest of twins. He has always been incredibly accident-prone, mostly because he would get 'inspired' with some fantastic scheme and forget about the possibly dangerous consequences.
He's an undiagnosed manic depressive (very probably because this condition wasn't as high profile in the eighties and they were too busy fighting a war).
During the war, he worked in A&E at St. Mungo's and helped with on-site trauma, but now the war is over he wants to train to become a midwife because he hopes that will be a happier branch of medicine.
FAMILY
As you may have read in his application, Iain has an identical twin brother by the name of [Cailean]. He is just a little bit older than Iain, was in Ravenclaw, and is (in my mind at least) a whole lot more grounded and down to earth than Iain is. Iain dotes on his older brother immensely and they're very close, almost obscenely so at times. They used to share a crib as babies and shared, well, pretty much everything as children. Even when they were in Hogwarts, it was not an uncommon occurrence to find Iain sleeping in his brother's bed with him. For Iain, family is incredibly important. He will drop everything if anything were to happen to his parents or brother, despite the consequences.
(If any of you want to play [Cailean], feel free! Just PM me about it and we'll work something out (and if you don't like his name, it can be changed).)
FRIENDS
Iain is the kind of guy who makes friends easily and leaves them behind seemingly just as easily. He falls into small talk with relative ease and nonchalance, but getting him to talk about stuff that matters is a different story. Often, his words are a wall more than anything and a pretence that he is doing fine.
Still, he would also have a few close friends, both male and female (because he realised that chatting to chicks can be fun as he got older) - to get drunk with or see Quidditch matches with (or sneak out to see rugby - who cares if it's a muggle sport?) or to just hang out with. Iain gets along with most people, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem, right?
FLINGS
As easily as he makes and loses friends, the same often applies to his love-life (hence why I called this 'flings' and not 'lovers' - that and the alliteration of family-friends-flings-foes sounded good lol). Iain has never had any kind of steady lovelife before, but he's had a couple of flings and one night stands - the problem is that girls don't usually hold his attention for very long.
That doesn't mean these flings don't mean anything to Iain, though - he can be desperately passionate about them. He's just easily distracted and isn't ready to commit yet... or do you think you can keep up with him (or, for that matter, slow him down a little) and change his mind?
And then there is the matter that Iain is not exclusively heterosexual. He hasn't quite accepted it yet. He started realising in his later Hogwarts years, but never acted on it and then the war happened and he had no time for such things. Part of him feels he should just try to abandon and ignore these feelings, especially with the new legislation, but then Iain can be very stubborn when he wants to..
FOES
Iain is bound to annoy people. When he's on the manic side of the spectrum (which is rather often), he will get on people's nerves. He's generally loud and chatty or whistling or tapping or just moving around a lot.
So if you want a nice little shouting match, feel free to shout at Iain - he will gladly accept your challenge.
