A date. At Madam Puddifoot's? Boy had he drawn the short straw. He had to admit his date looked pretty all right. Blonde. Not bad. He didn't mind blonde women and she was attractive. He just hoped she wasn't overly enthusiastic or he'd have to cut the date short, bright, bubbly people irritated him and blondes tended to be bubbly people. Sure they were attractive but a social, attention seeking woman? Not his type. He could be wrong and he really hoped he was because he was on edge already this evening and he didn't want to be aggravated even farther.
Arriving at the little tea shop Tye spoke to the waitress, was shown to his table and sat there miserably awaiting his date's arrival. The more he thought of it the more the whole situation irritated him. He was paying for someone to find him a loophole out of this ridiculous law yet so far there was nothing, zilch, not even a person to bribe. Tye couldn't marry. He wasn't the sort and he especially couldn't marry someone he was being forced to marry, because it just made him feel all the more rebellious.
Looking at his watch it showed that he still had five minutes to go before his date should arrive. He was half tempted to stand and walk out but deep down he knew he'd get into trouble for such a thing and he couldn't afford to get into any sort of trouble, not with his sort of record. He had to be careful. An ex-death eater? There was a reason he had so many tattoo's covering his arms, they covered the dark mark that used to be so prominent on his left forearm. That sort of thing would not do well in society these days and Tye was no fool, he knew he couldn't just go around with such a thing on his arm and when you had the dark mark, you had it for life.
Sitting himself up in his chair Tye looked around at the couples surrounding him. He'd been slipping in his chair because he was slouching back. He knew he should have cared more about his appearance right now but he just couldn't bring himself to bother with it all. Tonight was going to be a dull night. He was sure of it. Though to be polite and to please his dear dead mother, he'd brought his date some hand picked flowers. He had to do his part to uphold the family name he supposed, though he was never going to do his family proud, not now the Dark Lord was dead.

Marriage? This law was so silly. At least in Alice's opinion since marriage was the last thing on her mind at the moment. Her training to be an Auror was about to come to an end and soon her career would be her life. This law was basically preventing that since it demanded marriage and children. A child would set her so far back in her training that she might as well just quit now. The normally happy and fun girl had been moping around the locker room after she recieved her date letter. The guys in her training program were all excited since it meant that they were all getting dates and all had the potiential to get some action but Alice was not excited. She was far from excited.
A sigh escaped her lips as she finished brushing her hair and slipped on the simple sundress that she had selected her wear. Her mother hadn't really been involved with Alice's life since Alice graduated from Hogwarts and moved to London for her training. Which she was thankful for since her mother would have gone over the top with the outfit that Alice had to wear. Simple and on the plain side is how Alice liked to dress. Nothing flashy or very low cut. The dress was simple for tea and had a pretty pattern that flattered Alice. A quick ride on the floo network brought her to Hogsmeade from London and then a quick walk over to the tea shop.
Quickly she checked her watch and saw that she had five minutes until she was supposed to be there but still she slipped inside of the shop. She tucked a few pieces of loose hair behind her ear and she glanced around the little tea ship. After glancing over the crowd once she picked out the man from the picture. The man that she would be on a date with for the next few hours.
A forced smile appeared on her lips as she walked over to the table. "Hi... you must be Tiberius..." If not then she would have looked like some crazy girl who was excited for this date. Truth was that she wanted to turn and quickly run out before he answered her. Maybe a faked headache would be sufficient? Although Alice had been looking forward to some tea from this tea shop since she hadn't had it since she was at Hogwarts. "I'm Alice."

Tiberius Nott looked about the small tea shop. What kind of place was this for a date really? He supposed he should be somewhat thankful, it wasn't a full and intimate meal. No entrée, main and dessert here, just a late afternoon tea. Cakes and coffee or even tea as the name suggested. He could see a few savoury things on the menu on the table, propped up between the salt and pepper shakers, but this place mainly specialised in desserts. Cakes, mousses, cheesecakes and all sorts of sweet things that a man like him should never be caught dead indulging in out in public, however this was his date and he had to play by the rules, at least for a little while.
He heard a noise and saw a face. He stood up and smiled back at the lady, hoping he looked as charming as her felt "Miss Logan, an absolute pleasure." He bent at the waist, offering her a bow as his right hand came across in front of him and his left went behind, after all she hadn't offered her hand and who in their right mind was. This was a blind date set up by the government. There were just too many things that could potentially go wrong.
"Please, have a seat." He took a couple of steps and was soon at the back of her chair, pulling it out for her. He was nothing but a gentleman really, he would have made his mother proud if she had lived to see this day. Though he looked at the small round table they would be sitting at. It was awfully intimate. When there was another person to consider at this table it seemed a hell of a lot smaller than when he was sat on his own, waiting for this Alice person. Alice. Hmm, he quite liked the name he thought as he prepared to push her chair in, once she'd seated herself of course.
"I hope it's not too bold of me to say, but you look stunning this evening." She was an attractive woman, there was no doubting that but what she was wearing? Well it wasn't as if he was some sort of fashion guru, he just knew that the dress she had chosen suited her figure and her make-up wasn't so heavy that she looked like a street walker. She had introduced herself in an overly excited way and so he had come to the conclusion that this particular date might not be as bad as originally thought.

Coming here during the weekends had been a fun and exciting time when she was 15 and older. It meant that she could be away from the castle and hang out with her friends. Mostly Frank Longbottom, her bestfriend in the whole world, would come with her. Now he hated tea but he would sit there with Alice and they would either talk or just relax when they had the free time. But free time at Hogwarts had been far between since she took the maximum amount of classes that one could take during her time. All of her scores were very well recieved and in the end she proved herself to be a smart girl when all was said and done. Of course when all was said and done Alice had thought that she would have been smarter than to end up on a ministry assigned blind date. Aparently she was not as smart as she had hoped and now all she had to do was go on this date and hope that he didn't try anything.
Her date slowly stood up and bowed before her in a very formal greeting. Too formal for thier location and the outfits that both were wearing. But still she continued to smile. "My name is Alice... you don't need to call me Miss Logan." She commented. Miss Logan was too formal and its not like this was an arranged marriage between them. Just a ministry approved date between two people under the age of 35. At least he was being polite so far but she knew that it was just a matter of time before things when array on this situation.
"Thanks." She said as he pulled out her chair and then pushed it in when she sat down. The waitress walked over and asked if they would like anything. Alice ordered a cup of tea and then waited for her date to order whatever he was going to enjoy this afternoon. All things considered Alice was a simple girl and did not require a great deal of maintenance unlike some. All she wanted was to get her career going and to fall in love without the help of the ministry.
Then he spoke again and Alice felt her cheeks become pink at his compliment. "That was a bit bold of you considering that we just met. All I know is your name and I didn't come here looking for someone to take back to my bed tonight." It might have been rude for her to say but she was being honest. His comment had been a bit bold for her tastes but she was being a bit defensive since all of the guys in the Auror training called these dates places to meet bedmates. Alice was no one's bedmate and she planned to stay that was until she was ready with the right man.

Alice it was then. He didn't mind calling her by her first name. In fact it was going to make the evening a lot easier and a little shorter. If he kept calling her Miss Logan then that was just a whole word and syllable longer than Alice. Alice was definitely quicker.
Tye pushed Alice's chair in after she'd seated herself on it. He then proceeded to walk around the table back to his own street. Sat opposite Alice he realised the table was even smaller than he'd just realised. It was a very small table. He felt his knees bump into Alice's as he tucked himself in. He scooted himself out a little. This was far too intimate for a first time date. He'd certainly be letting the ministry know what absolute fools there were, sending people to a romantic tea shop in a picturesque village. Morons.
Tye kept in a sigh of exsaperation. Just look at where being a polite and proper gentleman had gotten him. Alice was unhappy about being complimented. Tye didn't think it was too bold, he'd just added that part to seem gentlemanly and most pureblooded women respected that so he assumed she was not a Pureblood, or at least not a wealthy one. He had his money on half blood because surely the ministry wasn't stupid enough to set him up with a muggle born, not after he stated he wasn't the purest of blood, which this girl probably wasn't. Ah well, at least one date wasn't so bad and half blood wasn't as bad as muggle born, though it was equally filthy.
Tye made his order of coffee to the waitress and a slice of sticky date pudding with custard. Just because the date was going to be a short one in a tea shop, didn't mean he wasn't going to enjoy the food that was served. It just meant he had to sit and look at a pretty blonde for a while, even make cnversation with her.
"Well then my apologies Alice. The rumours I've heard about you are clearly untrue. You don't put out just for a charming smile and a cheap compliment. Oh, and these are for you." He said, holding out the flowers. "I stole them off some mudbloods grave. Filthy flowers for a frigid bitch, why not." Tye said calmly and then smiled innocently. Annoying a suspected half blood would be a great first date to report back to the few friends he had.

Formallity was for dates that she actually wanted to be on but even her own boss did not call her Miss Logan anymore. It was Alice and he would call her Alice whenever he needed to yell at her. She training to become an auror was tough but she was learning to deal with all of the different men that she encountered. Most wanted to do inappropriate things towards her and they made some very rude comments when they first met her. Her father told her to have thick skin if she wanted to get into the job and after spending the first week crying in her apartment Alice got over it. She grew stronger and now she was at the top of her class. If she wanted to she could have her date on the floor with a broken arm if he tried the wrong thing.
The worst part was that she loved compliments and it was such a nice compliment but Alice was standing her ground in this situation. The wrong move or the wrong thing said and Alice would be in his bed without realizing what happened. She was scared of being charmed in that manner and the more dates that she needed to go on the more likely it would happen at least once. She hoped it would never happen and she hoped that this whole law would be overturned faster than this date would last.
But he was right about one thing... Alice was a halfblood. Her mother was a muggle and her father was a pureblood wizard. They had met in the streets of London when he saved her from an oncoming car. The pair locked eyes and were soon dating. Alice always thought it was a romantic story and her mother was accepting of her two magical daughters. It all worked out and Alice knew some things about the muggle world but she had choosen to live in the magical world and become an Auror like her father. Still certain things were done the muggle way in the Logan household.
"Who did you hear rumors about me from?" She asked more out of curisity since the last thing she wanted out there was that she would jump into bed for a smile. The person who said that would get a visit from Alice later. Then he said the worst thing that he could have possibly said. "Some mudblood.... " She repeated quietly yet the anger still boiled away inside of her.
"You should be ashamed of yourself." She said a bit louder. Then Alice grabbed the flowers and threw them right back in his face. "Stealing flowers off a grave is no way to impress a girl and its a terrible thing to do."
